Cedar Christian Academy, Christian School in the West Island of Montreal, Quebec Canada

“ The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.”
Psalm 92:12-13

Newsletter - October 2006

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
  Phil. 4:6

The students and staff are now settled back into the school year routines. The leaves are changing colour and we are yet again reminded of the beauty of God’s creation.

October Calendar Highlights:

Monday, 2nd                Information for Arts & Crafts must be submitted to supervisors.

Monday, 9th                 Thanksgiving holiday.

Tuesday, 17th               Annual General Meeting. This is an opportunity for you to get to know the parents of your children’s friends and the operation of Cedar Christian Academy. We strongly encourage at least one parent from each family to be present to discuss the running of the school and voting on the budget. This is a parent-run school and therefore requires the parents to be present to have input into this ministry that each one has chosen for their child. The meeting will commence at 7:00 p.m. sharp and will end at approximately 9:00 p.m. (maybe earlier).

Wednesday, 18th        School photos at Nazarene campus – pls. note day changed from Thursday Oct. 19th.

Friday, 3rd Nov.         Last day of 1st quarter.

  • Parent/Supervisor Interviews:
This year monthly Parent-Teacher interviews have been scheduled. Please check your calendar for exact dates. This has been done to allow for maximum communication between parents and supervisors. These interviews are by appointment only and may be requested by either the supervisor or the parent. With the number of students in each Learning Center, it is impossible for the supervisors to accommodate the schedule of each individual parent. Please note the monthly interview dates and set the time aside to meet with your child’s supervisor.

  • Dress Code:
Students must keep a pair of shoes for wearing indoors, which must be worn at all times. Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the cooler weather.
Students at Fairview campus must bring gym clothes on gym days and change at school. Students at Nazarene camps can come wearing gym clothes.

  • Finances:
Please be aware that there is a charge of $15.00 to cover NSF cheques, plus a late payment fee of $5.00 for each additional week not paid. If the school must replace documents originally sent home to parents, there will be a charge of $1.00 to replace.

  • Fundraising:
Send in used Ink cartridges (copper heads) for fundraising.

  • Sick or Late:
Parents please call the school before 9:00 a.m. if your child will be late or if they are sick and will not be attending that day.

  • Fairview Alliance Church Cleanup:
Fairview Alliance Church is having a cleanup day this Saturday morning Sept. 30th between 9 a.m. to noon. If you can spare an hour or two lending a helping hand washing windows and walls in the rooms we use as Learning Centers, please come (parents and students invited). This is a very practical way for us to show our appreciation to FAC for allowing CCA to use their facility.

CELEBRATION CENTRAL: See important news attached.

Please check the school calendar regularly, which is in your eldest child’s Communication book. All important dates and activities are marked on it
